HUMAN EFFECTIVENESS IN THE AGE OF AI

MEET KEVIN SURACE.

Inventor. Entrepreneur. AI pioneer. Performer. Author. Keynote speaker.

Kevin has spent his career turning ideas that sounded impossible into technologies, companies, and products people use every day.

Today, that same curiosity drives a bigger question:

How do people remain effective when the world changes faster than they do?

A Career Built on Curiosity
For Kevin, it usually starts with a question.

Why can’t I talk to a computer while I’m driving? That question helped lead Kevin and his team to develop one of the first AI-powered virtual assistants, decades before Siri and Alexa made the idea commonplace.

Then came other questions. Why can’t we make walls dramatically quieter? Why are buildings wasting so much energy? Why are we still doing this the old way?

Following those questions has taken Kevin across artificial intelligence, automation, communications, energy, sustainability, and building materials. It has led to the invention of soundproof drywall, breakthrough window technologies, AI-driven systems, work on the energy retrofit of the Empire State Building, companies across multiple industries, and 95 worldwide patents.

Not every idea worked. Plenty didn’t. But that is what decades spent innovating actually look like.

Curiosity creates the possibility. Then you figure out how to make it real.

HUMAN EFFECTIVENESS IN THE AGE OF AI
The technology kept changing. The human question didn't.

Across all of Kevin’s work, one question keeps showing up: how do people stay creative, adaptable, engaged, and effective when the conditions around them keep changing?

Today, AI has made that question more urgent. Technology can make us faster, automate the routine, and give us capabilities that would have seemed impossible only a few years ago. But it cannot decide what we do with those capabilities. That part is still human.

It is the idea behind Kevin’s work today, and the foundation of his flagship keynote, AI Will Replace Joyless Work.

Put AI on the repetitive, draining work.

Then use the time and capacity it gives back for the things humans do best: judgment, creativity, experience, connection, and meaningful work.

That is Human Effectiveness in the Age of AI.
Inventor Meets Performer
Kevin has never just been a technology guy.

Long before keynote stages, there was music. Kevin is a percussionist, conductor, music director, and award-winning film and Broadway producer.

That part of his life may look unrelated to AI and invention. It isn’t. Building something new and performing for a room full of people require many of the same things: curiosity, creativity, timing, the ability to adapt in real time, and a willingness to try something that might not work.

It also explains why Kevin’s keynotes do not feel like lectures. He knows the material. And he knows what to do with a room.
